Collins helps the La Crosse Loggers down the Battle Creek Bombers 9-4

The La Crosse Loggers (16-5) beat the Battle Creek Bombers (9-12) 9-4 on Tuesday at C.O. Brown Stadium behind Boomer Collins, who collected three hits.

He homered in the fourth inning and singled in the sixth and seventh innings.

The La Crosse Loggers relied on James Guillen to eat up innings en route to the win. Guillen allowed one earned run, five hits and no walks while striking out three over six innings of work.

The Battle Creek Bombers were led by Sikes Orvis's hitting. Orvis went 3-4 and drove in one. He singled in the first, third, and fifth innings.

Alex Tukey looked sharp on the mound. Tukey held the La Crosse Loggers hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Caleb Vincent (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
