The Atwater Aviators (16-10) jumped on the Alameda Merchants (9-10) early on their way to a 5-4 win on Sunday at Fireman_apos;s Memorial Ballpar, scoring three runs in the first inning.

The Atwater Aviators staved off the Alameda Merchants as the Alameda Merchants were unable to match the Atwater Aviators down the stretch.

The Alameda Merchants scored four runs in the seventh on a solo home run by Matt Chavez, three singles, and a hit by pitch. Still, the Alameda Merchants couldn't catch the Atwater Aviators.

Joe Greco paced the Atwater Aviators at the plate. Greco went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the fifth inning.

Mike Nelson got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He struck out three, walked none and surrendered five hits.

Tyler King (0-2) took the loss for the Alameda Merchants. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
