The New Jersey Jackals came out swinging, scoring three runs in the first inning to jump ahead of the Newark Bears early. A three-run home run by Francisco Caraballo delivered the runs in the first. The New Jersey Jackals had four hits in the inning.
Angel Berroa went a perfect 2-2 at the dish for the New Jersey Jackals. He singled in the first inning and homered in the third inning.
Jake Hale improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the New Jersey Jackals. He struck out three, walked none and surrendered two hits.
Marc Rutledge (0-1) took the loss for the Newark Bears. He lasted just one inning, walked two, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
The New Jersey Jackals pounded the Newark Bears pitching, as seven hitters combined for 16 hits, nine RBIs and nine runs scored.
