The Wichita Wingnuts seize victory thanks to late, drop the Gary SouthShore RailCats 6-4

The Wichita Wingnuts (52-38) took the last of five lead changes in a back-and-forth affair against the Gary SouthShore RailCats (45-46), securing a 6-4 victory on Friday at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.

The Wichita Wingnuts took the lead in the seventh inning and held on for the victory. Scored Ryan Khoury and gave the Wichita Wingnuts the lead for good.

The Wichita Wingnuts would not relinquish the lead as the Gary SouthShore RailCats were unable to weather a three-run seventh inning deficit.

The Gary SouthShore RailCats scored one run in the ninth on an RBI single by Ryan Babineau. Still, the Gary SouthShore RailCats couldn't catch the Wichita Wingnuts.

Khoury did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Wichita Wingnuts, reaching base three times. He singled in the fourth inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

Nick Walters improved to 2-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Wichita Wingnuts. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered no hits.

Andrew Johnston ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
