The Wichita Wingnuts (50-36) blew out the Sioux City Explorers 11-3 on Saturday at Lawrence Dumont Stadium after pouring on seven runs in the first inning.
David Peralta had two extra-base hits for the Wichita Wingnuts. He doubled in the first inning, tripled in the fifth inning, and singled in the seventh inning.
The Wichita Wingnuts relied on Derek Blacksher to eat up innings en route to the win. Blacksher allowed two earned runs, eight hits and two walks while striking out six over eight innings of work.
Nick Schumacher couldn't get it done on the mound for the Sioux City Explorers (38-48), taking a loss. He allowed nine runs in four innings, walked one and struck out one.
The Wichita Wingnuts' Jessie Mier, Ryan Khoury, Mike Conroy and Peralta combined for 10 hits and five RBIs.
