The Gary SouthShore RailCats fend off the Lincoln Saltdogs' late push, hold on 7-5

The Lincoln Saltdogs (31-48) were never able to get over the hump and get over their troubles against the Gary SouthShore RailCats (39-41) on Saturday, as the Lincoln Saltdogs fell 7-5 at Haymarket Park after falling behind by six runs in the fourth inning.

The Lincoln Saltdogs scored on a wild pitch in the seventh inning, an RBI single by Matt Forgatch in the eighth inning, and and a sacrifice fly by Chris McMurray in the ninth inning. Unfortunately, the Lincoln Saltdogs weren't able to take the lead back.

Adam Klein had two extra-base hits for the Gary SouthShore RailCats. He doubled in the first and fourth innings.

Jon Gulbransen struck out five, paving the way for a the Gary SouthShore RailCats win. Gulbransen allowed no earned runs on five hits and one walk over six innings.

Forgatch was solid at the plate for the Lincoln Saltdogs. Forgatch went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run.

Ryan Sheldon (5-4) took the loss for the Lincoln Saltdogs. He allowed seven runs in five innings, walked none and struck out six.

The Gary SouthShore RailCats were sparked by Mike Massaro and Klein, who teamed up for six hits and three RBIs.
