The Newark Bears fend off the Kansas City T-Bones' late push, hold on 5-3

The Kansas City T-Bones (41-36) were never able to get over the hump and overcome their troubles against the Newark Bears on Tuesday, as the Kansas City T-Bones fell 5-3 at Bears_Eagles Riverfront Stadium after falling behind by three runs in the eighth inning.

The Kansas City T-Bones scored one run in the ninth on a solo home run by Hunter Mense. Still, the Kansas City T-Bones couldn't draw even.

James Roche was hot from the plate for the Newark Bears. Roche went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the second and fourth innings and homered in the eighth inning.

Mike Ness struck out 10, paving the way for a the Newark Bears win. Ness allowed two earned runs, six hits and no walks over eight innings.

The Kansas City T-Bones were led by Mense's hitting. Mense went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the sixth inning and homered in the ninth inning.

Lucas Irvine was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out five, and allowed three runs.
