A five-run explosion in the second inning spurred the Winnipeg Goldeyes (44-31) to an 8-2 win over the Sioux Falls Pheasants (34-42) at Shaw Park on Tuesday.
The Winnipeg Goldeyes were led by Price Kendall's hitting. Kendall went 2-3 and scored two runs. He singled in the second inning.
Matthew Rusch picked up the win for the Winnipeg Goldeyes. Rusch pitched nine innings and allowed two earned runs, five hits and one walk while striking out three.
Barry Fowler (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed eight runs in six innings, walked two and struck out two.
