The Sioux City Explorers (28-34) and the St Paul Saints (30-29) traded the lead seven times on Sunday, but the Sioux City Explorers ended up on top with a 6-5 win over the St Paul Saints.

The Sioux City Explorers staved off the St Paul Saints as the St Paul Saints were unable to match the Sioux City Explorers down the stretch.

The St Paul Saints scored one run in the ninth on an RBI single by Willie Cabrera. Unfortunately, the St Paul Saints weren't able to take the lead back.

Brandon Newton racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Sioux City Explorers. He singled in the fifth and sixth innings and homered in the eighth inning.

Richard Salazar baffled the St Paul Saints, striking out seven batters. Salazar allowed three earned runs on seven hits and no walks over seven innings.

Chuck Lukanen improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Sioux City Explorers. Lukanen struck out none, walked one and gave up no hits.
