Holdren gives the Lincoln Saltdogs late push to beat the Gary SouthShore RailCats, 3-2

Stephen Holdren brought home the winning run to give the Lincoln Saltdogs (14-20) the lead in the ninth inning, as the Lincoln Saltdogs hung on to beat the Gary SouthShore RailCats (15-19) 3-2 on Saturday.

With the score tied at two in the ninth inning, Holdren came to the plate and homered.

Holdren was hot from the plate for the Lincoln Saltdogs. Holdren went 3-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the fourth and seventh innings and homered in the ninth inning.

The Gary SouthShore RailCats couldn't get anything going as long as Pete Parise was pitching. The Gary SouthShore RailCats managed just one hit off of Parise, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one during his three innings of work.

David Cooper got on base three times in the game for the Gary SouthShore RailCats. He scored one run and had one RBI. He tripled in the third inning and singled in the fourth inning.

Chris Allen (3-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out two, and allowed one run.
