Story by Narrative Science.

Both the Lincoln (11-12) and the Sioux City (9-13) put runners aboard on Saturday, but it was the Lincoln that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 5-4 win at Haymarket Park.

The Lincoln would not relinquish the lead as the Sioux City were unable to weather a two-run third inning deficit.

The Sioux City scored on a sacrifice fly by Ray Serrano in the fifth inning and an RBI single by Brandon Newton in the eighth inning. Despite their efforts, the Sioux City couldn't get over the hump.

Brad Payne did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Lincoln, reaching base four times. He singled in the third inning.

Wade Mackey got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed three runs over six innings. Mackey struck out four, walked one and gave up 10 hits.

Jason Jarvis (1-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked five, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
