The Laredo take out the Winnipeg with help from Peterson, 5-1

The Laredo (4-3) beat the Winnipeg (4-2) 5-1 on Monday at Uni-Trade Stadium behind Brian Peterson, who went 1-4.

He doubled in the sixth inning.

The Winnipeg couldn't get anything going as long as Mark Haynes was on the mound. Haynes held the Winnipeg hitless over four innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out six.

Fabian Williamson (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out seven, and allowed four runs.

The Laredo went up for good in the first, scoring one run on an error.

The Laredo got one-run boosts in each of the second, fourth and sixth. In the second, the Laredo scored on an RBI single by Luis Uribe, plating Jeff Vincent.

The Winnipeg scored their only run of the game on an RBI double by Jon Weber in the ninth inning.
