Clay Ardeeser drove in the go-ahead run to give the DeLand Suns (20-12) the lead in the eighth inning, as the DeLand Suns hung on to beat the Leesburg Lightning (21-12) 8-6 on Monday.

Jeffrey Lemon singled to start the eighth. He then went from second to third on a groundout by Kevin Lindheim. Finally, Ardeeser came to the plate with the score tied at six, and singled, scoring Lemon.

Ardeeser was hot from the plate for the DeLand Suns. Ardeeser went 3-5, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the fifth, seventh, and eighth innings.

Lemon reached base five times in the game for the DeLand Suns. He doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the third, sixth, and eighth innings.

Austin Jackson recorded his fourth win of the year for the DeLand Suns. He allowed one run over four innings. He struck out three, walked one and surrendered four hits.

Andres Lopez (0-1) took the loss for the Leesburg Lightning. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out two, and allowed one run.
