Caitlin Lowe had two extra base hits, sparking the USSSA Pride (31-12) to a 5-2 victory over the Akron Racers (14-30) on Sunday at Firestone Stadium.
She doubled in the first and second innings and singled in the seventh inning.The USSSA Pride relied on Brittany Mack to eat up innings en route to the win. Mack pitched seven innings and allowed two earned runs, four hits and three walks while striking out five.
Kelley Montalvo paced the Akron Racers at the plate. Montalvo went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. She homered in the seventh inning.
Lisa Norris ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with her ninth loss of the year. She lasted just three innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed two runs.
