Brian Ranta kept the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets (6-6) off the board during his seven innings of work and the Swift Current Indians (5-7) beat the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets, 3-1.

Ranta struck out eight and allowed no walks and six hits.

The Swift Current Indians would not relinquish the lead as the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets were unable to weather a three-run seventh inning deficit.

The Saskatoon Yellow Jackets scored one run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Tim Colwell. Still, the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets couldn't draw even.

It was a good day at the plate for the Swift Current Indians' Cam Newell. Newell went 3-5 and scored one run. He singled in the first, fifth, and seventh innings.

Jake Stalzer (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 6 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
