Adam Champion hopes every outing could go as well as Friday, as Champion struck out eight batters to carry the Evansville Otters (36-40) to a 4-1 victory over the Windy City ThunderBolts at Standard Bank Stadium.
Taylor Black got on base three times in the game for the Evansville Otters. He singled in the fifth and sixth innings.
Paul Montalbano looked sharp on the mound. Montalbano held the Evansville Otters hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Dustin Williams (10-5) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked four, struck out nine, and allowed four runs.
