Thursday was a great day for Javier Herrera, as he went 5-5 at the plate to carry the Rockford RiverHawks (14-23) to a 13-8 victory over the Evansville Otters (15-23) at RiverHawks Stadium.
Seven of the Rockford RiverHawks' runs were scored thanks to timely hitting by Herrera. He tripled in the second inning, singled in the first and fourth innings, doubled in the fifth inning, and homered in the seventh inning.
Each team blasted the other's pitching, and there were 21 total runs and 30 hits during the game. Managers of the two teams seemingly emptied their bullpens in search of the win, as there were seven pitchers used in the game.
Mike Lee got his third win for the Rockford RiverHawks despite allowing five runs over five innings. He struck out nine, walked three and surrendered six hits.
Bryce Morrow couldn't get it done on the mound for the Evansville Otters, taking a loss. He allowed 11 runs in four innings, walked three and struck out four.
