The Washington Wild Things fend off the Lake Erie Crushers' late push, hold on 5-4

The Lake Erie Crushers (35-29) weren't able to overcome the big hole they dug themselves into against the Washington Wild Things (25-37), and the Lake Erie Crushers lost 5-4 to the Washington Wild Things after falling behind by three runs in the fourth inning.

The Lake Erie Crushers scored on an RBI double by Jason Taylor and an RBI single by Russell Moldenhauer in the fifth inning and an RBI triple by Daniel Bowman in the eighth inning. Despite their efforts, the Lake Erie Crushers couldn't get over the hump.

AJ Nunziato racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Washington Wild Things. He singled in the fourth inning and homered in the eighth inning.

Robby Kuzdale led the Lake Erie Crushers' offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the ninth inning.

Chris Smith got the win, running his season record to 7-4. He allowed three runs over six innings. Smith struck out five, walked two and gave up seven hits.

Alex Loftin (4-2) took the loss for the Lake Erie Crushers. He lasted just five innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
