The Traverse City Beach Bums (51-28) continued to pile up the runs on Tuesday, scoring eight runs in the last three innings, en route to an easy 18-1 win over the Joliet Slammers (35-44) at Wuerfel Park.
The Traverse City Beach Bums scored eight runs in the eighth on an RBI single by Chase Burch, an RBI single by Marcus Nidiffer, an RBI single by Kyle Eveland, an RBI single by Brian Heere, a three-run double by Jose Vargas, a triple by Burch, and an RBI double by Jeff Flagg.
Nidiffer racked up five RBIs on three hits for the Traverse City Beach Bums.
The Joliet Slammers couldn't get anything going as long as Reid Kelly was pitching. The Joliet Slammers managed just two hits off of the the Traverse City Beach Bums' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out five during his six innings of work.
Jim Schult ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his sixth loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in five innings, walked one and struck out seven.
