Steve McQuail brought home the winning run to give the Schaumburg Boomers (27-15) the lead in the sixth inning, as the Schaumburg Boomers hung on to beat the Traverse City Beach Bums (28-14) 8-4 on Monday.

Sean Mahley had a hot bat for the Schaumburg Boomers. Mahley went 3-5 and scored two runs. He doubled in the sixth inning and singled in the first and eighth innings.

Cameron Roth struck out seven, paving the way for a the Schaumburg Boomers win. Roth allowed one earned run, seven hits and two walks over 6 2/3 innings.

Marcus Nidiffer did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Traverse City Beach Bums, reaching base three times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the ninth inning.

Jacob Clem ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out five, and allowed five runs.
