The Lake Erie Crushers (47-36) shut the door early on the Joliet Slammers (35-48), capturing a 10-2 victory on Saturday at Silver Cross Field.

With seven runs in the first three innings, the Lake Erie Crushers left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

A three-run home run by Russell Moldenhauer during the first inning and a two-run double by Kyle Shaffer, a single by J.C. Figueroa, and a double by Daniel Bowman in the second inning helped the Lake Erie Crushers put some runs on the board early.

Moldenhauer racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Lake Erie Crushers.

The Joliet Slammers had no answer for Trevor Longfellow, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Joliet Slammers managed just one hit off of Longfellow, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his four innings of work.

Kyle Maunus racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Joliet Slammers. He homered in the second inning.

Matt Sommo (2-2) took the loss for the Joliet Slammers. He allowed six runs in two innings, walked two and struck out two.
