The Gateway Grizzlies beat up on the Normal CornBelters, 13-1

The Gateway Grizzlies (52-36) continued to pile up the runs on Friday, scoring six runs in the last three innings, on the way to a 13-1 landslide win over the Normal CornBelters (28-60) at GCS Ballpark - Sauget, IL.

A sacrifice fly by Ben Ives and a three-run home run by Jonathan Johnson helped the Gateway Grizzlies score four runs in the seventh. The Gateway Grizzlies had three hits in the inning.

Jon Myers had a busy day at the plate, collecting three extra-base hits. He doubled in the second and fifth innings and homered in the eighth inning.

The Gateway Grizzlies relied on Tim Brown to eat up innings en route to the win. Brown allowed one earned run, four hits and one walk while striking out three over seven innings of work.

Randy Wells paced the Normal CornBelters at the plate. Wells went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fourth inning.

Jacob Liedka ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his twelfth loss of the year. He allowed 11 runs in seven innings, walked one and struck out six.

The Gateway Grizzlies pounded the Normal CornBelters pitching, as six hitters combined for 12 hits, 11 RBIs and nine runs scored.
