The Gateway Grizzlies (26-23) beat the Florence Freedom (27-22) 11-7 on Thursday at GCS Ballpark - Sauget, IL behind Antone DeJesus, who knocked in three runs.

Richard Barrett brought the heat against the Florence Freedom during his outing. Barrett held the Florence Freedom hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Edwin Padua blasted two home runs for the Florence Freedom. Padua went 2-4 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Padua homered in the second and fourth innings.

JaVaun West recorded his first win of the year for the Gateway Grizzlies. He allowed one run over two innings. West struck out two, walked none and gave up one hit.

Ian Durham ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
