Aaron Glaum drove in the go-ahead run to give the London Rippers (25-35) the lead in the seventh inning, as the London Rippers hung on to beat the Evansville Otters (35-38) 3-1 on Thursday.
Stephen Cardullo reached on an error to start the seventh. He then went from second to third on a groundout by Jim Vahalik. Finally, Glaum came to the plate with the game scoreless in the seventh inning and singled, bringing home Cardullo.The London Rippers staved off the Evansville Otters as the Evansville Otters were unable to match the London Rippers down the stretch.
The Evansville Otters scored one run in the eighth on a solo home run by Nick Schwaner. Unfortunately, the Evansville Otters weren't able to take the lead back.
Jamie Richmond's eight strikeouts helped the London Rippers to the victory. Richmond allowed one earned run, six hits and three walks over eight innings.
Matt Zielinski ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fifth loss of the year. He lasted just 7 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out eight, and allowed three runs.
