The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs get on top of the Amsterdam Mohawks early but can't hang on in 4-2 loss

The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs (22-17) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 4-2 to the Amsterdam Mohawks (29-14) on Saturday.

Gave the Amsterdam Mohawks the lead in the fourth inning.

It was a good day at the plate for the Amsterdam Mohawks' Chris Givin. Givin went 3-5 and scored one run. He singled in the fourth, fifth, and ninth innings.

Chase Haney pitched lights out for the Amsterdam Mohawks. The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs managed just one hit off of Haney, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during his three innings of work.

Paul Milto improved to 3-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Amsterdam Mohawks. He allowed two runs over six innings. He struck out four, walked one and surrendered four hits.

Mike Appel ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed four runs.
