The Elmira Pioneers (14-8) and the Newark Pilots (14-9) both had scoring chances on Thursday, but it was the Elmira Pioneers that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 5-3 win at Colburn Park.

Isaiah Lewis had two extra-base hits for the Elmira Pioneers. He tripled in the sixth inning and doubled in the eighth inning.

It was a good day at the plate for the Newark Pilots' Luke Reynolds. Reynolds went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the fourth inning and homered in the sixth inning.

Taylor Ahearn improved to 2-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Elmira Pioneers. He allowed three runs over six innings. He struck out seven, walked one and surrendered nine hits.

Xan Reese (2-1) took the loss for the Newark Pilots. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, walked five, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
