An exceptional effort by Eric Williams carried the Trinidad Triggers (14-7) to an 11-7 win over the Santa Fe Fuego (4-17) on Tuesday at Fort Marcy Park.
Williams rocked the Santa Fe Fuego with three home runs. Williams went 5-6 in the game with five RBIs and four runs scored. Williams homered in the first, sixth, and seventh innings.
The Trinidad Triggers came out swinging, scoring four runs in the first inning to jump ahead of the Santa Fe Fuego early. The Trinidad Triggers scored in the first on a two-run home run by Williams, a two-run single by John Nicholson, and a two-run single by Nicholson.
Joe Robinson got the win for the Trinidad Triggers thanks to nine strikeouts. Robinson allowed two earned runs, four hits and four walks over seven innings.
Chris Tavares reached base three times in the game for the Santa Fe Fuego. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the sixth inning and homered in the eighth inning.
