An excellent effort by Daniel Bateman lifted the Edmonds (8-2) to a 14-2 win over the Yakima Valley (6-6) on Saturday at Triton Field .
Bateman rocked the Yakima Valley with two home runs. Bateman went 3-5 in the game with four RBIs and three runs scored. Bateman homered in the third and fourth innings.
The Edmonds ran up the score, scoring runs at will until the final out. The Edmonds scored four runs in the final three innings to cap the blowout win. The Edmonds scored six runs in the fourth on the Edmonds scored in the fourth on an RBI single by Zach Needham, an RBI single by Garrett Gallinger, a double by Jesse Moore, , a double by Justin Polzin, and a solo home run by Bateman.
The Yakima Valley's lineup had no answer for Jason Shevenko. Shevenko held the Yakima Valley hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.
It was a good day at the plate for the Yakima Valley's Kyler Brudwick. Brudwick went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the second inning and singled in the sixth inning.
CJ Blowers recorded his first win of the year for the Edmonds. He allowed two runs over five innings. Blowers struck out two, walked one and gave up three hits.
Riley Benedetti (1-1) took the loss for the Yakima Valley. He allowed eight runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked four and struck out none.
The Edmonds hammered the Yakima Valley pitching as six hitters had a field day, combining for 10 hits, 13 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
