Zach Kirtley knocked in three runs as the Bethesda Big Train (1-0) took home a 9-5 victory over the Herndon Braves (1-1) at Herndon High School on Monday.
He homered in the first inning and singled in the sixth innings.It was a good day at the plate for the Herndon Braves' Andy Mocahbee. Mocahbee went 1-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He homered in the third inning.
The Bethesda Big Train had no answer for Chase Bailey, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Bailey gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one during his three innings of work.
Alex Calvert improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Bethesda Big Train. Calvert struck out none, walked two and gave up two hits.
Timmy Wages (0-1) took the loss for the Herndon Braves. He lasted just four innings, walked two, struck out six, and allowed three runs.
