The Alameda Merchants (14-10) beat the Humboldt B52's 6-3 but needed 10 innings to do so on Monday at Arcata Ballpark.

With the score tied at three in the tenth inning, Connor Caspersen came to the plate and singled, scoring Neil Sterling and Eric Benedetti.

The Alameda Merchants were led by Matt Smithwick's hitting. Smithwick went 3-6, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

Gunnar David brought the heat against the Humboldt B52's during his outing. David held the Humboldt B52's hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.

Matt Becker brought the heat against the Alameda Merchants during his outing. The Alameda Merchants managed just one hit off of the the Humboldt B52's' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his 1 2/3 innings of work.

Brian Barreto (0-1) took the loss for the Humboldt B52's. He lasted just two innings, walked four, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
