The Brewster Whitecaps get key pinch-hit in 16-6 victory over the Cotuit Kettleers

Jack Meggs was cold coming off the bench, but Meggs warmed up quickly as Meggs stroked a key pinch-hit single in the two to lead the Brewster Whitecaps (6-7) to a 16-6 win over the Cotuit Kettleers (3-9) on Saturday at Stony Brook.

With the Brewster Whitecaps leading by one in the second inning, Meggs came to the plate and singled.

Meggs racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Brewster Whitecaps.

The Brewster Whitecaps blew out the Cotuit Kettleers thanks to 17 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Brewster Whitecaps scored seven runs in the fourth on the Brewster Whitecaps scored in the fourth on an RBI single by Ryan Peurifoy, a two-run single by Eli White, a two-run double by Meggs, a sacrifice fly by Nico Giarratano, and an RBI single by Colin Lyman.

Nick Senzel had two extra-base hits for the Brewster Whitecaps. He doubled in the second inning, homered in the fifth inning, and singled in the sixth inning.

Patrick Ruotolo got the win, running his season record to 1-1. Ruotolo struck out three, walked none and gave up two hits.

Duncan Robinson ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 2 1/3 innings, walked one and struck out four.

The Brewster Whitecaps' Lyman, Senzel, Robbie Tenerowicz and Meggs combined for 11 hits and eight RBIs.
