Zac Mitchell was cold coming off the bench, but Mitchell warmed up quickly as Mitchell stroked a key pinch-hit single in the one to lead the Florence Freedom (40-43) to a 7-3 win over the Schaumburg Boomers (34-49) on Saturday at Schaumburg Boomers Stadium.
With the game scoreless in the first inning Mitchell came to the plate and singled.

Tony Vocca pitched lights out for the Florence Freedom. The Schaumburg Boomers managed just two hits off of Vocca, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out five during his 3 1/3 innings of work.
Coleman Stephens recorded his fourth win of the year for the Florence Freedom. He allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings. Stephens struck out three, walked two and gave up five hits.
Taylor Thurber (1-4) took the loss for the Schaumburg Boomers. He allowed seven runs in six innings, walked three and struck out three.
