Kevin Johnson hopes every outing could go as well as Thursday, as Johnson tossed seven scoreless innings to carry the Normal CornBelters (49-32) to a 6-0 victory over the Lake Erie Crushers (34-46) at All Pro Freight Stadium.
The Normal CornBelters blew out the Lake Erie Crushers thanks to seven hits, including zero extra base hits. A two-run home run by Ozney Guillen helped the Normal CornBelters score two runs in the second. The Normal CornBelters had one hit in the inning.
Guillen racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Normal CornBelters.
Brad Zambron ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his sixth loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked three, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
