The Florence Freedom need extra frames to finish the Joliet Slammers, win 4-2

The Florence Freedom (34-37) put in a full day's work in a 10-inning, 4-2 win over the Joliet Slammers (28-43) Sunday at Silver Cross Field.

With the score tied at two, Steve Carrillo came to the plate and singled, bringing home Ozzy Gonzalez.

Sam Eberle reached base four times in the game for the Florence Freedom. He also drove in one runner. He singled in the first, seventh, and ninth innings.

Zach Wendorf put together a nice outing. Wendorf gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out five during his five innings of work.

Andrew Strenge kept the Florence Freedom off the board during his seven innings of work. Strenge struck out two and allowed five walks and six hits.

Ed Kohout improved to 4-3 on the year by picking up the win for the Florence Freedom. Kohout struck out one, walked none and gave up one hit.

Patrick Dyer couldn't get it done on the mound for the Joliet Slammers, taking a loss. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
