Friday was a great day for Jeremy Gooding, as Gooding struck out 10 batters to carry the Florence Freedom (28-30) to a 2-1 victory over the Southern Illinois Miners at UC Health Stadium.

Matt Bywater was effective even in defeat, mowing down six the Florence Freedom batters and allowing two runs.

Bywater (7-3) took the loss for the Southern Illinois Miners (37-21).
