The Lake Norman Copperheads (12-10) and the Ballantyne Smokies (13-8) both had scoring chances on Saturday, but it was the Lake Norman Copperheads that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 7-3 win.

Samuel Fragale racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Lake Norman Copperheads. He homered in the sixth inning.

The Ballantyne Smokies had no answer for Chad Adkins, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Adkins held the Ballantyne Smokies hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Nate Blaylock (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in one inning, walked three and struck out one.
