Joe Bertone went 1-3 and hit a home run, helping the Lake Norman Copperheads (2-3) to a 2-0 victory over the Pineville Pioneers (2-2) on Monday at Billings Field, Huntersville, N.

Chad Adkins pitched lights out for the Lake Norman Copperheads. The Pineville Pioneers managed just two hits off of Adkins, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out six during his five innings of work.

The Lake Norman Copperheads couldn't get anything going as long as Will Zirzow was pitching. The Lake Norman Copperheads managed just three hits off of Zirzow, who allowed two earned runs, walked two and struck out four during his six innings of work.

Zirzow (0-2) took the loss for the Pineville Pioneers.
