Jordan Sergent went 2-3 as the Vienna River Dogs (15-17) took home a 9-5 victory over the D.C. Grays (10-22) at James Madison High School on Saturday.
He singled in the fifth innings and doubled in the sixth inning.Desmond Stegall had a hot bat for the D.C. Grays. Stegall went 3-4 and drove in one. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the second and sixth innings.
Joseph Vanderplas recorded his third win for the Vienna River Dogs even though he allowed five runs over eight innings. He struck out five, walked one and surrendered 10 hits.
Tyler Shamas ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked four, struck out four, and allowed four runs.
