The Statesville Owls (19-19) didn't stand a chance on Thursday, as the Lake Norman Copperheads (21-16) captured a blowout 7-1 win in seven innings at Hopewell HS.

The Lake Norman Copperheads scored three runs in the sixth on the Lake Norman Copperheads scored in the sixth on a two-run triple by Eric Ramsey and an RBI single by Shane Siebler.

Eric Tyler got on base two times in the game for the Lake Norman Copperheads. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He homered in the third inning.

Jeff Thompson improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Lake Norman Copperheads. He allowed one run over five innings. Thompson struck out three, walked three and gave up four hits.

Tucker Beane (4-2) took the loss for the Statesville Owls. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out six, and allowed four runs.
