Mitch Stoltzfus went 3-3 at the plate as the Ballantyne Smokies (18-10) took home a 7-6 victory over the Carolina Vipers (10-19) in seven innings at Ardrey Kell HS on Monday.
He doubled in the second innings and singled in the third and sixth innings.Michael Massardo reached base three times in the game for the Carolina Vipers. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the second inning.
Matt Thorpe got the win, running his season record to 1-1. He allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings. Thorpe struck out two, walked five and gave up two hits.
Austin Wynn couldn't get it done on the mound for the Carolina Vipers, taking a loss. He lasted just three innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
