CJ Selner kept the Carolina Vipers (10-21) off the board during his seven innings of work and the Ballantyne Smokies (20-10) beat the Carolina Vipers, 4-0.

Selner struck out four and allowed one walk and four hits.

Mitchell Price was solid at the plate for the Ballantyne Smokies. Price went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

A bright spot for the Carolina Vipers in the defeat was Jorge Montes, who allowed only zero runs while striking out five.

Luke Watts ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
