Kurt Kempema hopes every outing could go as well as Wednesday, as Kempema tossed seven scoreless innings to carry the Ballantyne Smokies (15-9) to a 5-0 victory over the Lake Norman Copperheads (13-11) at Ardrey Kell HS.

Josh Clark racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Ballantyne Smokies. He homered in the fourth inning and singled in the second and sixth innings.

Chad Adkins was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
