Hunter Jeffries had two extra base hits as the Statesville Owls (14-12) took home an 11-6 victory over the Carolina Vipers (10-15) at East Mecklenburg HS on Tuesday.
He singled in the first inning and doubled in the sixth and ninth innings.Kyle Nyenhuis pitched lights out for the Statesville Owls. The Carolina Vipers managed just one hit off of Nyenhuis, who allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out five during his 3 2/3 innings of work.
Sam Fulginiti put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Carolina Vipers. He doubled in the fourth and fifth innings.
Ryan Mulligan ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in two innings, walked none and struck out two.
