Three first-inning runs helped the Ballantyne Smokies (14-9) to a 6-3 win over the Pineville Pioneers (8-13) at Jack Hughes Park on Tuesday.
The Ballantyne Smokies scored in the first on an RBI single by Sammy Taormina and a two-run single by Josh Clark.
The Ballantyne Smokies were led by Evan Hyett's hitting. Hyett went 2-3 and scored one run. He tripled in the first inning and singled in the fourth inning.
Dalton Eisenbath brought the heat against the Pineville Pioneers during his outing. Eisenbath held the Pineville Pioneers hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out five.
Derek Hirsch went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for the Pineville Pioneers. He singled in the first, second, and fourth innings.
