Weston Clarke went 2-3 as the Ballantyne Smokies (13-7) took home a 5-0 victory over the Lake Norman Copperheads (11-10) in seven innings at Hopewell HS on Saturday.
He singled in the second and fifth innings.The Lake Norman Copperheads had no answer for CJ Selner, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Selner gave up just two hits, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his three innings of work.
Michael Strem (0-1) took the loss for the Lake Norman Copperheads. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out seven, and allowed five runs.
