The Lake Norman Copperheads (11-9) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 3-2 to the Carolina Vipers (9-11) on Thursday.
The Carolina Vipers took the lead in the seventh inning on a two-run single by Jake Cagle.
Danny Dunning brought the heat against the Lake Norman Copperheads during his outing. Dunning gave up just two hits, allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out four during his 4 2/3 innings of work.
Despite the loss, the Lake Norman Copperheads' Joseph Padgett dominated the Carolina Vipers' batters, giving up two runs and striking out five.
