Sasser helps the Lake Norman Copperheads down the Statesville Owls 5-3

Jacob Sasser had two extra base hits as the Lake Norman Copperheads (10-6) took home a 5-3 victory over the Statesville Owls (9-9) in seven innings at Statesville High School on Saturday.

He doubled in the second inning and homered in the sixth inning.

The Lake Norman Copperheads relied on Josh Bottenfield to eat up innings en route to the win. Bottenfield allowed one earned run, five hits and two walks while striking out four over six innings of work.

Tucker Beane was effective even in defeat, mowing down eight the Lake Norman Copperheads batters and allowing one run.

Zachary Thompson did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Statesville Owls, reaching base three times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the seventh inning.

Benjiman Watson (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed four runs.

The Lake Norman Copperheads' Daniel Stack, Sasser and Joe Bertone combined for six hits and five RBIs.
