The Statesville Owls (6-3) and the Pineville Pioneers (3-4) both had scoring chances on Saturday, but it was the Statesville Owls that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 3-1 win at Jack Hughes Park.

The Pineville Pioneers had no answer for Lucas Clarke, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Pineville Pioneers managed just two hits off of Clarke, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out three during his five innings of work.

Will Zirzow brought the heat against the Statesville Owls during his outing. Zirzow held the Statesville Owls hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.

Michael Gilroy (0-1) took the loss for the Pineville Pioneers. He lasted just two innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed one run.
