Three first-inning runs helped the Statesville Owls (8-5) to a 4-3 win over the Lake Norman Copperheads (7-6) at Statesville High School on Tuesday.

The Statesville Owls scored in the first on an RBI double by Colby Dishmond and a two-run double by Dishmond.

Ryan Brennan racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Lake Norman Copperheads. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Jordan Watts recorded his second win of the year for the Statesville Owls. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out four, walked four and surrendered three hits.

Jeff Thompson ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
