A magnificent effort by Vincent Mejia carried the Lake Erie Crushers (45-33) to a 9-1 win over the Traverse City Beach Bums (32-47) on Friday at Wuerfel Park.

Mejia blasted two home runs for the Lake Erie Crushers. Mejia went 4-4 in the game with three RBIs and three runs scored. Mejia homered in the second and fifth innings.

The Lake Erie Crushers blew out the Traverse City Beach Bums thanks to 13 hits, including zero extra base hits. A two-run double by Andrew Davis and a two-run home run by Mejia helped the Lake Erie Crushers score four runs in the fifth. The Lake Erie Crushers had three hits in the inning.

Andy Roberts put together a nice outing. The Traverse City Beach Bums managed just one hit off of Roberts, who allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out two during his five innings of work.

Carlos Berroa was hot from the plate for the Traverse City Beach Bums. Berroa went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the third inning.

Rusty Shellhorn couldn't get it done on the bump for the Traverse City Beach Bums, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked one and struck out five.
